The Research Scotland partners are aware of the importance of personal data, such as names, addresses, and e-mail addresses, that can reveal the identities of visitors to the site. With that in mind, you can access all of the content, including the full-text where available, on Research Scotland without having to provide any personal data.
Emails
Emails that are sent to / from the info@ResearchScotland.ac.uk email address will be held by the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and as such are subject to the RBGE privacy policy.
Emails that relate directly to another partner or partners (e.g. questions about non-RBGE publications, etc) will be forwarded to the relevant partner in order to provide the fullest possible response. At that point the original email will be deleted from the RBGE server.

Data Processing
Every time the Research Scotland site is accessed it automatically captures the following data and information from the device accessing the site:
- Information on the browser type and version
- Operating system of the data subject
- Internet service provider of the data subject
- IP address of the data subject
- Date and time of access
- Websites from which the system of the data subject accessed our website
- Websites the system of the data subject visits from our website
Temporary storage of the IP address by the system is necessary to deliver the site to your computer. Therefore, your IP address must be stored for the duration of the session.
The log files contain IP addresses and other data which can be attributed to you. This may be the case, for example, if the link to the website from which you access our website, or the link to the website you switch to, contains personal data.
The data is also stored in the log files of our system that are held by the University of Edinburgh. The log files are saved to ensure proper functionality of the website and to provide usage statistics on the daily number of visitors and enquiries about particular files. These are anonymous and are not linked to personal data.
IRUS-UK
Usage data from Research Scotland is shared with IRUS-UK in order to facilitate reporting. The shared data is subject to the IRUS-UK Privacy Policy.
