Criteria for Applicants
Applications to join the Plants on Paper workshop will be assessed against the following criteria:

1. Expertise / Knowledge
- Demonstrable involvement in the creation and / or curation of botanical art or art involving plants; we use a broad definition that includes any artistic output inspired by or featuring plants, fungi, and algae.
- Demonstrable commitment to ethical considerations, including addressing issues and practices relating to colonialism, systemic inequalities and / or environmental impacts.
- Demonstrable interest in and understanding of plants and or botanical collections, their historical significance, and their relevance in contemporary contexts.
- Applications are welcome from artists, curators, researchers, and practitioners in the fields of art, botanical art, science, and cultural heritage. Participants with backgrounds in museums, galleries, educational institutions, or related fields are also encouraged to apply.
- Participants should have proficient English language skills as the workshop will be conducted in English.
2. Commitment to Collaboration / Networking
- Demonstrable commitment to participation in collaborative and cross-cultural dialogues.
- Demonstrable commitment to fostering long-term networks and collaborations beyond the workshop.
3. Cultural and Geographic Diversity
- We are actively seeking applications from artists and curators with diverse cultural and geographic backgrounds. We are specifically interested in individuals from originating diaspora communities in India, Jamaica, Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.
- Particular consideration will be given to applicants who contribute to the diversity, inclusivity, and representation within the creation and curation of botanical art and related fields.
- Applicants should demonstrate the capacity to explore new perspectives, techniques, and approaches, with a willingness to adapt to a different cultural setting.
4. Other
- Applicants should articulate how their research / practice would benefit from participation in the workshop, aligning with the workshop's goals and intellectual context.
- Participants should demonstrate a clear interest in professional development through previous engagement in workshops, discussions, and seminars with experts in the field.
- Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to contributing to the long-lasting impact of the workshop, fostering ongoing collaborations, and building lasting collegiate friendships.
