Garden of Tranquillity
-
Created by Garden Design Diploma graduate Judy Good, the Garden of Tranquillity is a safe, peaceful and sensory greenspace for people with dementia and their carers. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, the Garden of Tranquillity opened to the public in 2021 and provides many benefits to the local community including:
- Supporting local people with dementia by helping them to feel included and providing a safe space for them to experience the therapeutic benefits of being outdoors
- Inspiring visitors to make their own gardens more dementia-friendly, demonstrating the ways in which horticulture can promote good health and wellbeing
- Educating visitors about the prevalence of dementia and highlighting Edinburgh as a hub for world-leading dementia research
