The seminal Los Angeles pop/conceptual artist Ed Ruscha presented his first ever exhibition in Scotland at Inverleith House in 2001. A suite of large scale photo-realist paintings of mountain scenes were offset by typically cryptic texts within the paintings and then framed by the incredible backdrop of the views from the gallery rooms to the garden, the city, and the landscape beyond.
Edward Ruscha is one of the most significant and influential artists of the twentieth century. His work has embraced painting, photography, print, film, drawing and book-form.
A separate exhibition of outdoor sculptures by Franz West ran concurrent this exhibition.
