For Inverleith House in 2006 recent Turner Prize winner Mark Leckey was invited to show his work alongside Scottish artist Keith Farquhar. Occupying the first floor, Mark Leckey displayed a purpose built ‘Soundsystem', consisting of two 1,600 watt amplifiers connected to an 8 foot-high speaker stack, designed to play ‘dubplates' (one-off pressings of records). This accompanied the first of three films to which ‘Jack Too Jack' perform; ‘Bigger Splash' (documenting a 1971 fashion show by Ossie Clark), ‘Shades of Destructors' (a Graham Greene short story-turned TV drama starring Phil Daniels) and ‘The March of the Great White Barbarians' (a visual poem of all the public sculptures in London). This sequence of films and their musical soundtracks was joined by a room of ‘Jack Too Jack' ephemera.
Mark Leckey (b. Liverpool, 1964) was educated at Newcastle Polytechnic and has held solo exhibitions at: the Migros Museum, Zurich; Cabinet and Tate Britain, London and Gavin Brown's Enterprise, New York.
