I am a freelance illustrator currently based in Reunion Island where I was born and grew up, surrounded by lush nature.
Observing the varieties of hues and patterns, drawing and documenting live plants from the smallest one to the biggest, has been a second nature since an early age.
Entering the RBGE Diploma in Botanical Illustration allowed me to dive deeper into my understanding of plants, and taught me how to convey those beauties and wonders while enriching my technique.
Title of the Project:
Smells and Flavours
About the Project:
I have chosen to work on five plants that are part of the landscape and heritage of Reunion island. They have olfactive, culinary and/or medical uses. Although not native, they all have or had historical, cultural and social values for this geographical area. On a very personal level, such as only tastes and perfumes are able to do so, they all produce vivid memories and have nurtured my constant interest for smells.
