I got interested in botanical illustration as I am an avid gardener. The course of my life entailed that I have constantly moved countries.
Along with the pain of leaving my garden behind came the pleasure of learning about new plants and the desire to capture memories.
Title of the Project:
Fruit trees of Canton Vaud, Switzerland
About the Project:
The idea for the project came from life all around me where fruit orchards are the dominating feature of the landscape. From early spring to late autumn all activity is focused on these trees. Not only do they have a positive impact on biodiversity – by providing additional habitat for birds and insects, but they also protect against soil erosion. Through the leaf fall of the trees and the developing root system, soil humus can be enriched, thus improving soil structure and water holding capacity. Studying these trees that contribute richly to our lives has been an enjoyable experience.
