Cheryl Cowan
I am a former ballet dancer and now a Pilates instructor.
Although I trained as a theatre set painter in the mid 1990s, I stopped painting for many years. I enrolled in in the RBGE botanical illustration course to acquaint myself with depicting organic forms and to learn some botany.
I enjoy sketching the natural world and I am currently studying digital Illustration.
Title of the Project:
Invasive species
About the Project:
This project developed out of my lifelong interest in Asian arts. The species illustrated were all originally native to Japan but can now be found in gardens throughout the world. My work aims to depict their structure objectively and at the same time reference the traditional arts of Japan.
