Li Li
My name is Li Li. I come from China and have been living in Norway since 2016.
I like language learning, reading, travelling, etc. But my biggest passion is drawing and painting. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to join RBGE Botanical Illustration course, which has deepened my knowledge about plants and painting techniques greatly.
Title of the Project:
Herbs
About the Project:
I chose 5 herbs from Boraginaceae, Lamiaceae, and Asteraceae families in the botanical garden in Oslo. Most of them are from Mediterranean areas. They were brought to Northern Europe during the Middle Ages by monks, priests and businessmen. The herbs were used as medicine before the beginning of the 1800s. The word “officinalis”, which appears in many Latin names, means the plant was acknowledged to be used in the historical traditions of healing. Besides medical uses, some herbs are also good preservatives and cooking spices.
