Amelia Campanile

Amelia Campanile is an ecologist who is based in Fife. She took up botanical illustration after seeing some examples at a conference based at RBGE and was inspired to attempt it herself. She enjoys the attention to detail that is needed for the work and the chance it allows to develop observational skills.

Title of the Project:

Non-Native Invasive Plant Species of the British Isles and Ireland.

About the Project:

Non-native invasive species are estimated to cost £2 billion each year within Britain with an approximate cost to Scotland of £200 million. The project was to look at five plants which cause economic and environmental issues within Scotland and to research the lifecycles of the plant. All five plants I chose grow within a mile radius of my home. However, they are all extremely wide spread across Scotland.
