Dr Emma Bush, Nature-based Solutions Scientist
Emma is an ecosystem scientist addressing fundamental challenges to human society through her research on plant functional ecology, socio-ecological systems and nature-based solutions.
At RBGE, Emma co-leads an action-research programme developing nature- and community-based solutions for urban environments. Emma's research experience is international, inter-disciplinary and covers a range of species and systems including the phenology of tropical trees, the ecology and climate of African rainforests and the sustainable management of natural resources in forest and coastal communities.
Emma has a strong interest in knowledge exchange and is committed to translating her research for policy and public audiences, with a special emphasis on under-served communities. Emma's work has attracted international media and she is a member of the Young Academy of Scotland.
Through her work and life, Emma seeks to recognise the deep connectedness between humans and nature and foster greater appreciation of the complex and beautiful planet we call home.
