Cooking Sections: Tidal Records
-
A new research study featuring the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh’s seaweed collections, now on display in the Botanic Cottage.
Useful and beautiful in equal measure, seaweeds have fed people, supported farming and industry and inspired scientific collectors for hundreds of years. More recently, they have even been looked to as bioindicators of pollution. In response to Scotland’s Year of Coasts and Waters, Cooking Sections’ Tidal Records tells the story of the ebb and flow of people’s use of seaweed. Drawing upon scientific seaweed collections in the Garden’s Herbarium, Tidal Records introduces a world of fragile beauty with the potential to be part of a sustainable future.
To view this research study, it is essential that you book a timed entry slot to the Garden before you arrive.
